Abstract: The affine building of SL(2,Q_p) is a first interesting example of an affine building of a reductive p-adic group. This talk gives a first glimpse inside the rich theory of affine buildings which play a major role in the classification of forms of quasi simple p-adic reductive groups and are important objects in representation theory.
