Abstract: We introduce the notion of biharmonic almost complex structure on a compact almost complex (Hermitian) manifold. We prove the existence and smoothness of biharmonic almost complex structure in dimension four. We also prove existence results of biharmonic almostcomplex structure in a given homotopy class of an almost complex structure.
